I decided to take on a project for the new home. I saw these subway signs that people are making online with Etsy. Below is the one that is for sale and is priced at $41.00 and that includes no frame. So I thought I would take a stab at it and instead of putting in a frame I will mount it on a thick piece of wood, decoupage it, and then sandpaper it to make it more vintage looking. I am going to do this for Paris, London, and Rome and then hang them above our couch in the living room. I priced it out to where it is only $23 to print it at Staples and the cost of the wood and paint is all I will need to finish this off...oh and some clips to hang them. They are going to be 36 inches tall and 11.75 inches wide.
Now when you look at these remember they are going to be on wood and distressed...right now you are just looking at the typography...not the actual end product.

| Rome Subway Sign--i think the font will be dark brown and the background a grayish brown versus the black and white in most of these. |
You *ARE* very crafty. $23 seems like a lot to print though.
ReplyDeleteWhoops! I see now they are going to be 3 feet tall, and almost a foot wide. So the price of printing will be more than I thought. Sorry. I would like to see pictures as you go along and the finished product.
ReplyDeletelol..I was just going to say they are going to be big pictures...i will post as I work on them. I think I am going to get the stuff this weekend and begin working on them Sunday..at least that is goal...we shall see if Sergeant Luke permits it on his base.
